In the winter months, Buck Hill in Burnsville is a great way to spend the day and offers something for everyone. They have 15 ski and snowboard runs, as well as snow tubing. They have one of the best snowmaking systems in the Midwest, which allows the area to operate even when the weather doesn't cooperate. The Mall of America

One of the most entertaining places near the south metro is the Mall of America. Here you can enjoy shopping at over five hundred thirty stores spread across 4 levels. There are plenty of dining options as well, either upscale or a quick bite, you're sure to find something for everyone. If you aren't looking to shop, you may want to explore Nickelodeon Universe. This indoor amusement park in the center of the mall has rides for all ages. You can also explore Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium, containing over 4,500 sea creatures including stingrays, turtles, sharks, and other exotic sea creatures. For the younger kids, there is Crayola Universe to explore where you can color and even make your own crayons. Lego Land is also a popular attraction in the mall which features larger-than-life lego creations and activities for kids. Spending the whole day at the Mall of America is a great time, but can also be somewhat exhausting. Just up the road is the Great Wolf Lodge which features a large indoor water park for the kids. There are eight restaurants attached to the hotel, as well as a bowling alley if swimming isn't up your alley.
